CONTRACTED DATA PROTECTION OFFICER
Since 2018, the EU’s new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has been in force, which also applies to Swiss companies doing business in EU or processing data related to EU citizens or EU companies. GDPR affects Swiss companies that process data relating to EU citizens or have these as a target group.
Loss of data or data protection violations can result in criminal consequences, high fines and serious reputational damage. These consequences could threat a company’s existence.
According to the GDPR, companies processing personal data formally have to designate a person to act as Data Protection Officer (DPO) to administer the company’s compliance related to the data protection activities. This requirement has a positive impact for you as designating a DPO can facilitate compliance with the GDPR and also become a competitive advantage for the company.
Our certified contracted DPO will assume at least the following tasks for you:
- Inform and advise the company and the employees who process personal data on their obligations according to the GDPR and the EU member states' data protection law.
- Implement "state of the art" data protection concept
- Control the compliance of the company with the data protection rules by performing audits.
- Advise and act as a contact point for the supervisory authority on the data protection impact assessment and verify the execution of the latter.
- Cooperate and act as a point of contact with supervisory authorities.
Your company will be assisted by the DPO in complying with the data protection requirements of the the GDPR through promotion of a data protection culture.
