Since 2018, the EU’s new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has been in force, which also applies to Swiss companies doing business in EU or processing data related to EU citizens or EU companies. GDPR affects Swiss companies that process data relating to EU citizens or have these as a target group.

According to the GDPR, companies processing personal data formally have to designate a person to act as Data Protection Officer (DPO) to administer the company’s compliance related to the data protection activities.
